Throughout the design for Theros the question of what non-human species was a serious problem for white. Greek mythology has kind of a blind spot when it comes to the themes that white represents. There was a push from the creative director to create race of ant men called the Myrmidon but that was thankfully thrown out in favor of just leaning on cat men again.
